Are you an experienced snow cat operator looking to work at one British Columbia's premier backcountry operations?
Join our team as a seasonal Snow Cat Operator for Winter 2025 and play a vital role in delivering "best days ever" all season long! Being a Snow Cat Operator at Baldface Valhalla means you'll be transporting guests through 21,500 acres of high alpine terrain with big mountain features and breathtaking winter landscapes you will never tire of.

Role Overview:
The Snow Cat Operator is responsible for providing safe and smooth mountain travel for the enjoyment of all guests. You must have excellent communication skills to interact successfully with guides and guests throughout the day. You must also ensure snowcats are clean, fueled, safely operated and ready at all times.
Responsibility Overview:
- Transport guests from base to staging area in a safe, efficient manner.
- Perform snow cat safety briefing for guests on their first morning out.
- Assist guests with unloading and loading of skis/snowboards throughout the day.
- Load lunch bins and water containers in the snow cats each morning and remove lunch bins and water container at the end of the day and transport them to the appropriate base. Empty garbage from bins and lunch bags and ensure coolers are dried.
- Ensure cat is clean at the end of the day, complete morning and evening checklist and perform any routine maintenance required, ensuring the car is ready for the morning. All maintenance or repairs must be recorded in the logbook and communicated to the Mechanics.
- Assist mechanics with regular maintenance as required.
- Log time snow cat is started and shut down as instructed. Daily Logs must be completed and communications made with the mechanics of any immediate equipment repairs required for uninterrupted operations.
- Participate in staff meetings when scheduled.
- Be familiar with the Companion Rescue program and Emergency Response Plan.
- Arrive ready to operate the cat safely. Driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or sleep deprivation is strictly prohibited and considered an offense under the Canadian criminal code.
- Present a neat and professional appearance.
- Perform other operational support duties arising at base, staging or in the field, as assigned.
Role Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Class 4 driver's license, or be willing to obtain.
- Avalanche and emergency first training an asset.
- Experience and expertise in operating machinery.
- Experience with backcountry travel and remote location work.
- Experience with chainsaws and brushing an asset.
- Strong customer service skills.
The pay range for this role is $260-295 per day plus a percentage of tips. Your actual day rate will be determined by your level of related experience with the skillset required for this job and your seniority. After your initial interview, we'll be able to tell you exactly what your rate will be.
